"Skype" is an internet messaging system similar to MSN Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger. For me, it seems to work better over long distances, especially when using the video feature. I have friends who use it for contacting family in Europe, Australia and Africa. I also use it for tech support to friends and family.

You will see versions for windows (under the graphics) and MAC OS X.

Run the downloaded program installer and set up your user defaults. Be sure to set any security functions to protect your identity. Set who can see and contact you to "only" those you have specifically added to your contact list. Go through all of the possible settings so you don't miss anything.
