"Adobe Reader" is used for viewing documents that have been created in the
"PDF" format. It stands for "Portable Document Format" viewable with
software written for the particular computer operating system, ie:
Windows, Mac OS, Linux etc. These documents are "read only" in that
they are not changeble by the user. Other special software,
usually pricy, is needed to edit them. File names have the "pdf"
extension, like "Newsletter.pdf".
Software is available for free to create PDF files using most any editing software. The one used here is Primo PDF.
It looks likke a printer to the operating system, but it creates a PDF
file instead of paper copy. The results are read only. All of the PDF
files on this site are created this way.
It can be downloaded from Adobe.Com and is available
for Windows and Mac OS.
